Does Payluk support milestone payments?

Updated

Short answer

Yes. A milestone escrow divides the total into two or more milestones whose amounts add up to the full escrow. The buyer funds the whole amount up front, and each milestone is released separately when that stage is confirmed. Merchants can release milestones automatically from their backend through the API.

How milestones work

  • You need at least 2 milestones, and their amounts must add up to the escrow total (minimum ₦1,000 overall).
  • The buyer pays the escrow fee on milestone escrows.
  • Each milestone has a title, an amount and an optional target date.
  • Each confirmed milestone releases its share immediately, and the escrow completes when the last milestone is released.
  • A milestone can pay a different beneficiary.
  • If there is a dispute, no further milestones can be released until it is resolved.

Automating releases

When your platform knows a stage is done, call the milestone confirm endpoint for that milestone. Webhooks then tell your system about the change.
